Introducing Lyons & Phillips Dental

Daniel Phillips distributed a letter earlier this year asking to join dental offices in Northeast Ohio upon graduation from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. John Lyons, Orrville,  received this letter but set it aside as he was not considering a partner at that time. 

A few weeks later, Lyons received a phone call from a woman at his church. Her granddaughter’s husband was graduating from dental school and he really should consider meeting with him, just to talk. 

That phone call was from Melissa Phillips grandmother and it was her granddaughter’s husband, Daniel, who had written to Lyons.  Prompted by the call, Lyons followed through and once the Dentists talked, they discovered that the two would make a good team.   

Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting October 18, 2021, to celebrate the new partnership of Lyons & Phillips Dental, 1440 W. High Street, Orrville. 

Growing up in Rocky River, OH, Dr. John Lyons found a passion for dentistry at an early age. After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1983, he moved to Orrville and began his dental career. 

Lyons hired, Tammy as a hygienist and five years later (1987) they were married. The Lyons’ have served the Orrville community for nearly 40 years, providing oral care to multiple generations of local families. 

Dr. Phillips is a native of Wadsworth, OH. He attended The University of Akron and Wayne College, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then proceeded to obtain his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He and his wife, Melissa, currently live in Smithville. 

“Daniel and John have the same temperament and values, which has made this new partnership work well,” remarked Tammy. “Melissa, is also his dental assistant, same as I am to John.” 

When asked how the partnership was going Dr. Lyons replied “It’s going great! I am very happy to have an extra hand.” 

Phillips was attracted to the practice because of the wide age range of the patients. 

“We have young families and even a couple of 100-year-old patients,” commented Dr. Phillips. “The relationships you have with your patients something I value. It is very important.”
