Leadership Orrville Learns about Entrepreneurship

Jan 30, 2024

The January session of Leadership Orrville focused on “Entrepreneurship” and featured four of our areas entrepreneurs who shared their experiences and insights.

The morning started at Ventrac’s Bridgeway Training Center with Darrell Mosley of Motivated Mindset Mosley sharing about the various businesses he has started. He taught the class the importance of reaching out to people to learn about the areas that interest you.

Mosley’s tour was followed by a tour of Ventrac and then a presentation from Dallas Steiner. Steiner encouraged the class to discover “what gets you up in the morning” and find a trustworthy team to support you.  Steiner went on to share you may need to start with a shotgun approach but eventually you will need to narrow your focus and have relentless determination to turn ideas into reality.

The class continued the day at Will-Burt where CEO Richard Lewin explained the difference between an entrepreneur and an intrapreneur. Lewin challenged the class to “ask yourself why am I here? What am I now, and what do I want to be? Stop copying other people’s products and innovate.”

A tour of the Will-Burt facilities was followed by Cheryl Kirkbride, owner of the Inn at Walnut Creek. Kirkbride encouraged the class to take risks, learn and try again. She also shared about the importance of knowing your target audience and being creative.
