SERPENTINI ORRVILLE DELIVERS ON CHAMBER GOLF OUTING

Serpentini Orrville Red Circle Sponsor Chamber Golf Outing

A PERFECT EARLY AUTUMN DAY WELCOMED 92 GOLFERS TO THE ORRVILLE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE GOLF SCRAMBLE AT THE PINES GOLF CLUB, SEPTEMBER 23.

Red Circle Sponsor, Serpentini Chevrolet of Orrville, welcomed golfers with a display of impressive new vehicles that the player with a hole-in-one on number 18 could win. Unfortunately, there was no winner of a new car at the outing this year.

Participants arrived to find their lunch individually packed in an insulated cooler on their team golf carts along with goodie bags. This eliminated traffic through the Club House. Black Circle Sponsors, Venture Products and The Bargain Hunter, made this adjustment to protocol possible.

Other health and safety pre-cautions taken included an in-person event acknowledgement signed by each individual golfer and pre-event purchase of Mulligans and Skins Game entry to minimize the usual congestion at the check-in table.

A combined team of Farmers National Bank and Wayne Savings Community Bank shot a score of 54 for the first-place finish. Second place honors went to HATCH with a score of 57 and scrambling for third in a score card playoff was Re/Max with a score of 58.

Prize sponsors included Armstrong, McElroy Packaging and The Pines.

Sixteen teams competed in the Skins Game. Three teams split the skins pot between Farmers National Bank/Wayne Savings, HATCH and Orrville Utilities..

Proximity prize winners included Ralph Miller (CSB), closest to the pin; Dylan TanTom Pukys (WEDC) longest putt; and Mat Stuart (GWC) longest drive.

Games on the course added to the excitement of the day. Winning $100 local merchant gift cards for placing a bet to get the ball on the green was Jay VanSickle. Picking the lucky card won Nate Huffman $100 Que Pasa gift card. Drawing the winning ticket in the 50/50 was Tom Pukys.

In lieu of soliciting for door prizes, the Chamber supported the Rally Around Restaurants and Retail Campaign by purchasing gift cards from member businesses. One player on each of the 23 teams received a gift card as a door prize along with a reminder to “Shop Local, Eat Local, Spend Local.”

The beverage carts sponsored by HATCH and Weaver Commercial Contractor provided refreshments on the course. The steak dinner served by The Pines for outdoor dining concluded the event.

The Chamber appreciated the generous support of outing sponsors and participants during this very unusual season.
