Team Smucker Goes Home with First Place at Chamber Golf Scramble

The Pines Golf Club welcomed 100 golfers for the Orrville Area Chamber’s Annual Golf Scramble, sponsored by Red Circle Sponsor Serpentini of Orrville, on September 21.  Black Circle sponsors were Bargain Hunter and The J.M. Smucker Company. 

Dan Franks, the new President & CEO of the Orrville Area Chamber, was able to meet many Chamber members and experience his first Chamber event. 

The J.M. Smucker Company team, consisting of Eric Bowman, Todd Crites, Jeff Hollingsworth, and Travis Roberts, won the scramble by a tie breaker. Coming in second place was BK Home Improvements and finishing in third out of the 25 teams was Silver Dollar Sportsman’s Club. 

“We put together a strong team of competitive golfers, and it really made for an exciting event,” said Todd Crites of The J.M. Smucker Company team. 

“It was wonderful to share that experience with some coworkers and get a chance to meet several business leaders in the Orrville community,” Crites commented. 

Eighteen teams competed in the Skins game. Tying for the win was The J.M. Smucker Company team on hole 9 and team ComDoc, A Xerox Business Solutions Company on hole 15. 

Participants began their day with a lunch prepared by The Pines Golf Club restaurant that was generously sponsored by Lehman’s and Ventrac. 

McElroy Packaging and Weaver Commercial Contractors sponsored the beverage carts that were driven by volunteers from Serpentini of Orrville and Junior Achievement of Central Ohio. 

Other companies serving as volunteers included Orlo Auto Parts, Mirabel Promotions, The Will-Burt Company, Quality Castings, The City of Orrville, Jarrett, and the Wayne County Schools Career Center. 

Following play, golfers enjoyed a steak dinner prepared by The Pines Golf Club restaurant. Door prizes were donated by Chamber members, including a 55” television donated by Richard Lewin, President of The Will-Burt Company.
