After Two Years, The Power of Her® Returns!

Jun 29, 2022

Like most events, The Power of Her® felt the hardship of having to cancel the past two years' events, but we weren’t alone. Sitting idle in 2020 and 2021 meant that Fisher Auditorium was empty; small businesses weren’t in front of their target audience and lost revenue; women were unable to socialize and network; and sponsors lost visibility and revenue. We estimate a total economic loss of over $75,000 from missing a 1-day event two years in a row.

The good news is that discussions with our past attendees, vendors, and sponsors revealed a universal joy for our return. We’re proud to announce that The Power of Her® will return on October 4, 2022!

Not surprising, the Collaborative Leadership Team and I are frequently asked…

“Why should I attend?”

Great question! Mutually beneficial relationships form, which grows your network, and often, new business opportunities present themselves. Leadership skills and self-confidence blossom. And you’ll leave re-energized after a fun day of supporting small businesses and professional development.

“Why should I send my employees?”

Another great question! It’s not enough for employers to simply offer the latest mental health app or use euphemisms like “we value your well-being.” Employers must connect what they say to what they do. One way for employers to do this is to permit a professional development day for events such as The Power of Her®.

When employers offer P.D. days, attraction as an employer is increased, DEI as a mental health issue is addressed, and employees’ mental health is improved. A Harvard Business Review article from October 2021, noted, “…workers who felt supported with their mental health overall were 26% less likely to report at least one symptom of a mental health condition, less likely to underperform and miss work. In addition, they had higher job satisfaction and intentions to stay.” They also felt proud to work for their employer.

The Power of Her® mission is to empower and inspire women, as well as create an experience to connect the women of Wayne County and surrounding counties with small businesses by offering professional development, women-focused, educational, networking opportunity.
