The Orrville Public Library has again been awarded star distinction by the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service- "America's Star Libraries- 2019." Libraries are rated on their performance within peer group categories determined by operating expenditures.

This year, out of 6,333 libraries that submitted their data, 261 earned stars. Orrville Public Library is grouped with peer libraries in the expenditure range of $400K- $999.9K, which included 1,221 libraries nationwide. Only the top 30 libraries in each range receive stars.

The number of stars a library receives is determined by the total number of points earned. Libraries are rated on their performance in six areas including total circulation, e-material circulated, library visits, program attendance, public internet use and, new this year, Wi-Fi sessions. Orrville Public Library earned three stars this time, bringing its total earned over the years to 29!

Library Director Daphne Silchuk- Ashcraft said, "We are honored to receive this recognition and proud to be part of a community that supports and utilizes their library."
