Something Sweet at CCHO

Something sweet has been happening on the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio (CCHO) 165-acre campus in Wooster.

During the month of March, CCHO began the process of making maple syrup. They placed over 300 taps and collection containers on the sugar maple trees located around campus buildings and wooded areas. Over the next three weeks before the temperatures rose above 70 degrees, they collected more than 3,000 gallons of sap. Did you know? It typically takes about 40 gallons of sap to produce just one gallon of maple syrup! Many thanks to the Wooster Lowe's store for donating more than 200 five-gallon buckets for collecting sap.
