WCSCC Adult Ed Small Business Start-Up Course

May 11, 2023

Have you ever thought about taking a skill or hobby you have and starting your own side business? Wayne County Career Center Adult Education is excited to announce a great new course, Small Business Start-Up!

Small Business Start-Up is a summer course designed to help you take your first steps towards business ownership. In this course we will take your very own business idea and explore if it could be a viable business. You will create a business plan based on your idea, covering everything from identifying your potential customers to choosing a location and suppliers. Throughout this process, we will assess your concept, look for ways to build upon it and begin to develop a profitable business. We will dive into the details of a small business start-up: getting licensed and insured, setting up your organization, determining start-up costs, and learning how to pitch your business.

The course will run three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday- with exception to the first two weeks which will run Monday -Wednesday) from June 5 to August 31, 2023. This a general education course so attendance is flexible with materials provided for any missed days (you don't have to cancel that vacation you planned!)

April Post is a 22 year veteran teacher who has owned and operated small businesses her entire teaching career as a hobby and supplemental income.
