Dallas Steiner led a discussion on how to prevent career burnout.

Work life balance was the topic of discussion for the Orrville Area Young Professionals Workshop held on May 13 at Ventrac’s Bridgeway Training Center.

Dallas Steiner, Business Advisor for Ventrac and President, Tilmor, LLC, led a discussion on how to prevent career burnout and achieve a healthy work life balance. Steiner spoke from his perspective as a seasoned business owner and entrepreneur.

“I wish I had been more thoughtful in my work life balance when I was your age,” shared Steiner. “Now, I have the life experiences to share my knowledge with you. Burnout can stunt our growth if we aren’t careful.”

Steiner challenged the group to think about “what gets you up in the morning?” and “find your passion.”

“For me, a Ventrac employee, having Dallas Steiner, the person whose vision helped build our company into the place I love, share his journey was deeply special,” said Kim Zuercher, Marketing Specialist at Ventrac. “My biggest takeaway was Dallas’ encouragement to ‘Find your passion. Find your people. Find your gratitude.’ ”

Steiner suggested that young professionals seek to define the places and organizations that fuel their passion to maintain a healthy balance between work and life.

“Avoid people that zap your energy,” remarked Steiner.  “Look for people that energize you, don’t let your passion control you, you control it, and know how to say no.”

The 35 young professionals in attendance enjoyed a guided tour following the program and then reconvened at the Cobblestone Hotel lounge for a social hour.

“Find joy and build on it,” were Steiner’s parting words.

Orrville Area Young Professionals is a program of the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce focused on developing and retaining future leaders.  Professional development workshops are held quarterly to inspire, connect and grow young leaders in the greater Orrville Area.
